Which games are getting the biggest free upgrades?
It’s been a year since the release of the trex arcade game, but a new version is making its way onto shelves, with one major difference: it has a price tag of $1,500.
That’s according to a new report from Eurogamer, which cites industry sources who say the original version of the game will now be offered at a cheaper price.
The trex version of this classic platformer from 1988 has seen a few tweaks over the years, but the original arcade game is still sold as a stand-alone purchase, with the game currently priced at $1.99.
Eurogamer cites a source familiar with the development of the upcoming free-to-play version of trex, who claims that the developer is planning to introduce some significant improvements to the game’s graphics.
“We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, and a lot more to do to bring the game up to the current standard, but we’re already making significant improvements,” the source said.
“We’ve done a lot to get the game into the hands of the majority of gamers, and it’s going to be a great ride for everyone who has the game to enjoy.”
Trex, which has since been ported to Windows and Mac, launched in Japan in 1986, and saw the arcade game’s success spread across the world, eventually reaching over two million players worldwide.
In recent years, the games release in the US has also attracted the attention of the gaming industry, as well as an increasing number of new titles coming to consoles and mobile devices.
