‘Saints Game’ game over,Oregon trail game still on
A day after the Oregon Trail game was over, the Oregon State men’s basketball team is still battling to close the gap with No. 10 UCLA in the final seconds.
The Ducks came away with a 95-90 win over the Beavers on Wednesday night, but the final score was not exactly a blowout.
Oregon State (17-8, 10-7 Pac-12) was leading by as many as 20 points early in the second half, but Oregon State’s second-leading scorer, Ryan Kline, had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Oregon won the rebounding battle by more than five, but also had trouble keeping UCLA (15-8) off the boards, which has helped lead to an average of 23.7 points on the night.
Kline, the Ducks’ leading scorer this season, had a season-high 17 rebounds and four steals.
The junior guard is averaging 19.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 10 games this season.
Klin has scored in double figures in four of Oregon State ‘s last five games, including the three-point shootout win over UCLA in Portland on Jan. 29.
The Beavers are on a 10-game winning streak, but have not played since beating No. 9 Utah 81-71 on Tuesday night.
Oregon’s last victory over UCLA was a 95 to 97 win over Utah in the Rose Bowl on Dec. 14, 2013.
The two teams have split three of the last four meetings, though the Beaver have won three of those contests.
Oregon State is trying to extend its winning streak to 12 straight games.
The Beavers have lost eight straight home games dating back to last season.
The last time Oregon State lost to UCLA in Eugene was Nov. 28, 2012.
The game is being broadcast on ESPN2, and the game will also be broadcast on the Pac-10 Network.
