‘I’ve had to put up with it’: Dad of child who died in deadly fire at home dies in hospital
An Indian man’s father who lost his daughter and three of his friends in a deadly fire in a house on a farm has died in hospital, a family spokesman said on Monday.
The family of the deceased said the 56-year-old man, from a village in north-west India, was the first of his family to die in the blaze at the home in Poonch district.
The son of the dead man, an elder brother, said he was in a stable condition in a hospital in Pune, India’s most populous state, where his parents live.
“I have lost my father.
My family is in shock,” the elder brother told reporters.”
It is very sad that we can’t take him back to his family in the village, but we will take him to a hospital,” he said.”
He was the most caring person, he was always willing to help us,” he added.
Firefighters from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and a neighbouring fire department responded to the blaze, which broke out at around 8.15am on Sunday.
They were dispatched to the house after neighbours reported smoke in the vicinity, a Pune police official said.
Fire fighters arrived and extinguished the fire.
The death was ruled as accidental and the fire was under control by 9.15pm, the official said, adding that the cause of the blaze was not yet known.
