Broncos at Packers: How will the game play out?
By DAVID ZIRIN, Associated Press • Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning says the game will start in the 4:25 p.m.
It will be broadcast on ESPN, CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX.
Peyton Manning will take the field at 3:35 p.g.
He’ll have a limited number of plays in the game and will have to be patient in order to play, according to a statement from the NFL.
The game will be played in the stadium, which will be on a smaller stage.
It’s expected to be the third time Manning has played a game in the Broncos’ stadium, and the third at home, after Denver’s first home game against the Atlanta Falcons in 2010 and the first home playoff game against Minnesota in 2013.
It was a rematch of the 2015 Super Bowl, the team’s first with quarterback Peyton Hillis in 2013, the Broncos defeated the Vikings 34-17.
Manning threw two touchdown passes in the 34-27 victory.
Manning has thrown at least one touchdown pass in all three of his NFL seasons.
He completed 35 of 68 passes for 383 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions.
He is 7-2 with a 4.72 average and 3,827 passing yards.
The Broncos are 3-1 in the series and 6-1 all-time against Green Bay.
Denver won the first meeting by a touchdown in Week 2.
Green Bay won the other meeting by 24 points.
Manning and the Packers had a 2-1 lead in the first quarter when Manning hit a 34-yard field goal with 3:04 remaining to give the Broncos a 27-21 lead.
But Hillis made a huge play with a 1-yard run to give Denver a 17-14 lead with 1:03 remaining.
The Packers had three consecutive first downs in the third quarter, and then went on a 21-play, 80-yard drive that saw them go 20-for-30 on third down.
The Green Bay defense held on to hold the Broncos to only eight first downs on the night.
The score was the most first downs of any team in the NFL in that span.
It also was the fourth time this season the Packers have gone back-to-back games in which they allowed the Broncos two first downs.
Green Carons quarterback Brett Hundley, who started the last meeting, threw two touchdowns and rushed for 100 yards.
He threw three touchdowns in that game.
Hundleys third TD came on a 9-yard pass to Randall Cobb on a 2nd and 2 play.
That drive was highlighted by Hundes second touchdown of the day, a 25-yarder to James Jones, who was wide open on the right sideline in the end zone on the second play of the first half.
Hutt had a career-high 36 tackles for the season.
The two teams combined for only 26 rushing yards.
Green Green is the second team in league history to go 3-0 against the Broncos.
That includes a 29-3 win over Denver in the 2016 season opener.
Green Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had two interceptions, including a 1st-and-goal from the Broncos 30 with 3 seconds left in the second quarter.
That led to a 4th-and_3 play from the Green Bay 3.
The play resulted in a first down for the Packers.
But the Broncos returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and forced a turnover.
Manning went for a 1.5-yard touchdown pass to Jarius Wright with 1.9 seconds left, but the ball went out of bounds with a safety.
On the ensuing drive, Manning went 4-for, with two touchdowns.
Manning added a 1yard run in the fourth quarter on a 1 yard pass to Jordy Nelson.
The run gave Green Green a 24-20 lead with 2:08 left in regulation.
That was the last time Green Green Carls went back-and‐forth against the Denver Broncos, winning each time by a score of 17-16.
This will be the first time Green Carps home crowd of 49,871 has played in a Super Bowl.
Denver has not played at home since 2000.
The team has played 14 regular-season games in the city of just over 100,000 people since the Super Bowl was moved to Levi’s Stadium in 2009.
